Day 11 Pom Pom to Cape Town

Got up early and set off on our last safari at Pom Pom.
Flew from the Okavango Delta to Maun in Botswana,  in a very small 6 seater plane. Flew from Maun to Johannesburg in a 37 seater jet and then eventually from Johannesburg to Cape Town in a large jet. Sick of flying and happy to be here. Ready to explore Cape Town tomorrow. Been having trouble with blogging should be o.k. from now on.

Day 10 Okavango Delta Pom Pom Camp

Got up at 6am to go on a safari through the Okavango Delta bush. Saw kudu,  hyena, elephant, giraffe, hippos, buffalo and lots of birds. We found an elephant skull with one tusk,  really awesome.
Went on a second safari into the night and came across a very ugly hyena.
Went for a swim while it was African siesta time.

Day 9 Chobe to Okavango Delta

Today we left Chobe and flew to the Okavango Delta on a 13 seater plane. Staying at Pom Pom which is an open camp.  Animals can wander in at any time, so we are unable to walk around freely without a guard.  There were leopard tracks around our tent. We went on another safari in the afternoon and spotted giraffe,  elephant,  kudu, zebras and so much more. We had drinks watching the African sunset. Sam got to sit up with the pilot on our flight.

Day 8 Safari at Chobe

Got up early and went on a river safari cruise on Chobe River.  Saw hippos, crocodiles, kingfishes,  fish eagles, so many spectacularly beautiful birds and so much more. Came across some really aggressive hippos and was chased by a huge bull hippo under water.

On this afternoon's safari we saw sable antelope, mongoose, lots of baboon, dung beetles feeding on sable manure, huge families of elephants who were playing , swimming and drinking. Will got sprayed by elephants taking mud baths. They were so close to us we could almost touch them.
Will and Sam made friends with the resident bush buck, called Naughty and they were the first people to pat him.
